Some angry youth in Sefwi Wiawso constituency in the Western North Region are up in arms against the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin for walking their Member of Parliament (MP) out of the floor of the house.
The demonstrators clad in mainly red and black offered the Speaker of Parliament a one-week ultimatum threatening to do the worse if he fails to render an unqualified apology to the MP, the people he represents as well as the Paramount Chief of the area.
“We are urging Bagbin to apologise to Kwaku Afriyie, the people of Sefwi Wiawso and our paramount chief because he has shown gross disrespect towards us…,” Ackon Dennis who organised the demonstration demanded.
Ackon Dennis who is also the NPP Organiser for the constituency said he was shocked that the Speaker of Parliament would want undertake such an action when the Law Maker never offended him.
“Did Muntaka not tell Bagbin that he was a tyrant? Yet he failed to refer Muntaka to even privileges committee but what did we see in this case? Is it the case that being a tyrant is no longer an insult…?,” he quizzed.
The NPP Organiser also opined that he agreed with the Law Maker that Speaker Bagbin had no right to dictate to the committee and Parliament on what decision to take with regards to the appointment of Judges by the President.
He further accused the Speaker of always being biased against the Akufo-Addo administration.
The NPP MP for Sefwi Wiawso in the Western North Region, Dr Kwaku Afriyie, was sacked from the chamber of Parliament by the Speaker of the House, Alban Kingsford Bagbin.
The speaker during proceedings on Monday ordered the Marshall of Ghana’s Parliament to walk out the MP out of the Chamber for challenging the authority of the 3rd gentleman of the House.
