In a heated phone call on October 15, 2024, Apostle Dr. Isaac Owusu Bempah, founder and leader of Glorious Word Power Ministries International, issued a string of serious threats and curses directed at Okatakyie Afrifa, the host of Angel TV and FM’s morning show.
The outburst followed comments made by Afrifa on his show, accusing Owusu Bempah of engaging in womanizing with him.
Outraged by the accusations, Owusu Bempah warned Afrifa with violent language, saying, “I am not holy. I will expunge your intestines,” and threatened to send people to physically assault the media personality. He further vowed to collapse Angel TV, owned by Dr. Kwaku Oteng, stating that the media station would not survive his wrath.
The threats didn’t end there. Owusu Bempah also rained curses on Afrifa, stating that he had placed a deadly curse on him. According to Owusu Bempah, Afrifa would soon suffer a fatal accident as a result of the spiritual repercussions of his actions.
“I have cursed you, and you will have a deadly accident,” the religious leader declared during the call.

In addition to targeting Afrifa, Owusu Bempah also directed his threats toward Dr. Kwaku Oteng, the founder and president of Angel Group, vowing to bring down the station in retaliation for what he considered defamatory and slanderous statements broadcasted by Afrifa.
At the time of this report, neither Okatakyie Afrifa nor Dr. Kwaku Oteng has publicly responded to the threats. The explosive exchange has sparked widespread debate on social media and in the media space, with many questioning whether legal or spiritual repercussions will follow. Authorities are yet to comment on whether any investigation will be initiated following Owusu Bempah’s public threats and curses.
This incident raises serious concerns about the growing hostility between religious leaders and media figures in Ghana, and the potentially dangerous impact such public confrontations could have on societal peace and media freedom.
