The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMeT) says residents along the Lower Volta Basin should brace themselves up for an expected rise in water levels in coming days.

This is due to anticipated precipitation for the Eastern, Volta and parts of the Greater Accra regions over the next five days effective Tuesday, November 5, 2024, as the GMeT has indicated in an alert.

The communities likely to experience  relatively high water levels over the period are Mafi-Adidome and Sogakope in the Volta Region. Others are Big Ada, Ada Foah and surrounding areas in the Greater Accra Region.GMeT flood alert

However, the GMeT says that this expected rise in water levels “is not expected cause any inundation within the period.”

“The rest of the country shall not
be inundated within the period.”

The impact-based forecasts are derived from automated
analysis.
