The Kasoa Tollbooth generates an estimated GHC100,000 daily in revenue, the General Secretary of the Ghana Toll Workers Union, Edward Duncan, has disclosed.
He stated that considering all factors, the tollbooth located in the Central Region along the Accra-Cape Coast Highway was a key contributor to the country’s revenue generation before the road tolls cancellation by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration.
However, with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government’s plan to reinstate toll collection, Mr. Duncan emphasized its significance and described the Kasoa tollbooth as the country’s largest in terms of revenue collection.
Responding to a question by Saddick Adams on whether the Tema tollbooth remains the highest revenue-generating toll, Mr. Duncan clarified:
“Tema toll is not the number one in terms of revenue collection. The figures I’ve shared reflect the potential of the Kasoa tollbooth. For example, the revenue generated at Kasoa per shift in a day is substantial.”
Providing a breakdown, he added: “Depending on the circumstances, daily revenue ranges between GHC40,000 and GHC60,000 on regular days. However, on weekends or holidays, it could reach higher figures. A combination of factors affects the inflow of revenue.”
“Yes, it is possible to generate GHC100,000 daily. While daytime shifts generate significant revenue, night shifts may not yield as much. However, when combined, the total revenue aligns with the GHC100,000 estimate,” Mr. Duncan made these remarks during an interview on the Angel Morning Show.
