New Patriotic Party (NPP) Communications Team Member, Ellen Ama Daaku, has expressed views contrary to public opinion regarding the government’s corruption fight.

Madam Daaku reminded the public that despite widespread praise for President John Mahama’s commitment to tackling corruption, his actions against alleged corrupt individuals remain mere accusations.

Her statement stems from the National Intelligence Bureau’s (NIB) arrest of Gifty Oware-Mensah the immediate past Deputy Executive Director of the National Service Scheme (NSS).

Speaking on Angel Morning Show, she questioned the basis of the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) pursuit of officials from the previous NPP administration, stating that there was no prima facie evidence supporting their claims.

“So what crime do they say Gifty Oware has committed? Has she been charged with stealing state funds or found guilty of the 80,000 ghost names on the National Service Scheme’s payroll that would justify her imprisonment after trial? Is this what we call an investigation?” she asked.

She expressed her displeasure with the government’s approach, suggesting that its actions under the guise of fighting corruption were questionable.

“So, are they going to arrest her boss as well? For me, at this point, until they present enough evidence of the accused person’s offense and charge them before a competent court, I’ll term whatever actions they are taking as mere investigations,” she stated.
