Deputy Director of Elections of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mahdi Gibril, has challenged the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to prove their accusations against the President in the matter concerning the suspended Chief Justice.

Mr. Gibril asserts that President John Dramani Mahama has committed no constitutional breach in the perceived move to remove Chief Justice Gertrude Sackey Torkornoo, as alleged by the opposition.

Speaking on the matter, the NDC bigwig said that if the NPP had any evidence to support its claims, it should present it without hesitation.

“I don’t see any wrongdoing by the President. I challenge the NPP to point to one constitutional error the presidency has committed,” he stressed on Angel TV.

He also questioned, “why the NPP is worried about the suspension of the CJ”

In his view, the NPP’s reaction is purely partisan and lacks justification.

“The NPP knows that they do not have any fair grounds regarding the legality of the CJ matter, and that’s why they have resorted to using religious groups and others as mouthpieces for the CJ,” he added.
