Newly-recruited teachers go on their knees begging Mahama to pay delayed salaries

Must Read

Over 700 newly recruited teachers have called on President John Mahama to settle their outstanding salaries, which have remained unpaid for eight months.

They said they find themselves in a dire state of financial distress due to this delay.

In their heartfelt appeal on Monday, April 28, 2025, at the Prempeh Assembly Hall, Kumasi, the teachers went on their knees and implored the President to intervene and ensure that their salaries are paid immediately.

“Teachers are suffering, Naana [Vice president Naana Jane Opoku-Agyeman] we’re begging you, you people should help us because teachers are suffering.

“Please leaders pay us, Teachers are suffering and you don’t want to pay us, why is teaching not a profession? Why have you let teaching look something difficult,” they lamented.

The teachers said they were engaged in September 2024 and had been working since but not a single month’s salary has been paid into their accounts.

All attempts to have the responsible agency intervene to have their concerns addressed have proven futile, they stated.

They asserted that they have been enduring significant hardships as a result of the non-payment of their salaries, struggling to make ends meet in their daily lives.
