A driver’s mate of a DAF truck has been rescued after the vehicle plunged into the Tano River in an accident, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).
The vehicular accident involved a DAF Long truck with registration number GX-8042-22 transporting about 600 bags of cement from Offinso to Drobo and a Hajue motorbike.
According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the vehicle veered into the river in an attempt to save the motorbike rider.
The GNFS said its attention were drawn to the accident and quickly dispatched personnel from the Techiman Metro Fire Station to the scene.
“The crew rescued the mate of the cement truck who was trapped in the cowl and handed him over to the Ambulance Service for medical attention,” a statement by the GNFS on Thursday, August 14, 2025.
It confirmed that most of the cement bags were salvaged.
