Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has been formally informed about the passing of Nana Konadu Yiadom III, Asantehemaa.
The former Stateman was informed of the death of Asantehemaa on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, when he received a delegation from the Manhyia Palace, led by Otumfuo Kyeame Baffour Kantankrakyi, at his residence.

In a Facebook post, Akufo-Addo shared that he received news from a delegation sent by the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
“I had the honour of receiving a distinguished delegation of eminent chiefs and elders from the revered Manhyia Palace, sent by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, to formally and customarily inform me of the sad passing of the 14th Queen Mother of the Asante Kingdom, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, a fellow member of the Oyoko clan,” he posted.
He described the late Queen as “adorable”, “full of grace and wisdom” and “committed to the values and traditions” of the Asante kingdom.
“She had a successful eight-year reign, and we had a good and fruitful friendship. Anytime I was in Kumasi, I did not hesitate to seize the opportunity to visit her to convey my regards.”
He noted that he grieve with Otumfuo the Asantehene and Asanteman on such a sad loss, and pray that her venerable soul receives peaceful rest.
The Queen mother’s passing was formally announced on August 11 by the Asantehene, His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, during an Asanteman Council meeting.
