The Ghana Water Ltd. (GWL) has announced a temporary interruption in water supply to parts of Accra following a fire outbreak at the Dodowa Booster Station.
According to a statement issued by the company, the incident has led to the shutdown of operations at the facility to allow for comprehensive repair works.
GWL said its engineers are currently on site working to restore the system to full functionality.
The affected areas include East Legon, Agbogba, Haatso, Atomic, Frafraha, Ashaley Botwe, Adjiringanor, Ashongman, Dome, Adenta, Madina, Oyarifa and surrounding communities.
Residents in these areas are expected to experience low water pressure or no flow until operations are fully restored.
GWL expressed regret over the inconvenience caused by the development and assured the public that efforts are underway to rectify the fault in the shortest possible time.
“We wish to assure the public that every effort is being made to rectify the fault in the shortest time possible and to restore regular water supply.
“Management is putting in place alternative arrangements to ensure the continuous supply of water to essential service providers, including schools and hospitals, during this period,” the GWL said.
The management further stated that alternative arrangements are being put in place to supply water to essential service providers such as schools and hospitals.
Meanwhile, institutions that may deplete their storage are advised to contact their various Municipal Chief Executives (MCEs), Assembly Members, Unit Committee Members for assistance.
