An invigilator of the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), identified as Bright Amoah, had his phone seized at the Armed Forces Senior High Technical School at Burma Camp.
The incident occurred on Monday, August 25, 2025, during an official monitoring tour by the Head of the National Office of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), Dr. Rosemond Wilson. The tour coincided with the first major paper of the examination, Social Studies.
According to reports, Dr. Wilson’s attention was drawn to Mr. Amoah after she observed that he was improperly dressed, which violated WAEC’s examination protocol.
Upon further questioning, it was discovered that the invigilator allegedly had already-solved questions on his phone, including materials related to subjects such as Picture Making and Oral-English that had already been written.
WAEC officials immediately confiscated the phone and directed Mr. Amoah to submit a written report explaining why his device contained examination-related materials.
Dr. Wilson emphasized that WAEC would not tolerate any conduct that undermines the credibility of the ongoing WASSCE and assured the public of the Council’s commitment to safeguarding the integrity of the examination.
