The Ghana Police Service has announced a series of temporary road closures and diversions in Accra to facilitate the Millennium Marathon Sports Limited (MMSL) event scheduled for today, Saturday, September 6, 2025.
According to the statement, the following roads will be closed to vehicular traffic:
- Atta Mills High Street towards Osu
- Liberation Road from the 37 intersections to the Central Business District (CBD)
- Independence Avenue at the National Theatre Traffic Light
- La Beach Road
- Oxford Street
- Cantonment Road
- Jawaharlal Nehru Road
To manage traffic flow, the Police have outlined alternative routes for motorists.
According to a statement, those traveling from Liberation Road are advised to use Kaokudi Road through Kanda Highway, connecting to Barnes Road to reach the CBD, or divert via Giffard Road to Osu.
“Motorists on Atta Mills Highway should reroute through Liberia and Barnes Roads to the 37 intersections, then proceed to Osu and La.
“Drivers on Giffard Street are directed to use the 37 intersections through Kaokudi to Dr. Hilla Limann High Street to access the CBD.”
The Police have urged the public use these alternative routes, emphasizing that no vehicles will be permitted to park along the affected roads.
Traffic officers will be stationed at key points to assist motorists throughout the event, the statement assured.
