Former Chairperson of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Hajia Ibrahim Hussein Hamdatu, has admonished the government to manage the economy in a way that production becomes the footprint of the country.
She stressed that the country should be able to produce its own goods for the economy to grow and also help in the growth and stabilization of the cedi.
Hajia Hamdatu also urged the government to look into the agricultural sector and help young entrepreneurs who are capable of producing goods to boost production in the country.
“Government should invest in young entrepreneurs to produce goods like sanitary pads, toothpicks, and so on because industrialization is key,” she said in a panel discussion on the Angel Morning Show (AMS) on Wednesday, October 29, 2025.
She further added that if there’s no production in the country, pressure will continue to be on the cedi even if the dollar rate is being managed.
“There will be nothing like pressure on the cedi if we produce our own goods,” she emphasized.
