The Chief Executive Officer of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), Julius Neequaye Kotey, has been invited by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) to respond to allegations of bribery he recently made against an unnamed individual.
Speaking to Saddick Adams on the Angel Morning Show (AMS) on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, Mr. Kotey revealed that he rejected a GH¢4 million bribe.
According to him, the alleged bribe was intended to dissuade him from implementing the new Digitalised Vehicle Registration Plate (DP) policy.
This initiative aims to combat vehicle-related fraud and improve road safety.
Although Mr. Kotey did not clarify whether the gesture was a trap, he described the individual involved as a “powerful figure.”
“When I started this initiative, a gentleman called me. As I speak to you now, I don’t even know where he is now, whether it was a trap or what, he brought Ghc4m cash to my office…,” Mr. Kotey revealed on the Angel Morning Show (AMS) on Tuesday, October 28, 2025.
The OSP has since invited him for a meeting to gather further information regarding the allegation and to identify the individual behind the bribery attempt.
