Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh has appealed to the Ghana Medical Association (GMA) to support the government’s efforts to reform the health sector and address long-standing inequalities in healthcare delivery.
Speaking at the GMA’s 67th Annual Conference, themed “Strengthening Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) for sustainable healthcare delivery”, he highlighted key government initiatives aimed at improving healthcare outcomes.
These include the decentralised posting of doctors, the Free Primary Health Care policy, and the newly established Ghana Medical Trust Fund designed to ensure quality care reaches underserved communities nationwide.
Mr. Akandoh urged the GMA to play a central role in strengthening collaboration between public and private sectors.
He revealed plans to open selected Agenda 111 facilities and key service areas, including diagnostics and primary care, through strategic partnerships.
He emphasized that strong professional cooperation drives the success of these reforms.
He further added that the government views the GMA as an indispensable partner in building a fair, people-centred, and sustainable healthcare system.
