The Ghana Police Service has taken swift action following the circulation of a viral video showing a man administering a substance suspected to be a cigarette to a child.
According to a press release issued by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service (GPS), the suspect has been arrested.
The man, identified as Samuel Obeng Acheampong, was apprehended on November 22, 2025, through an intelligence-led operation.
During interrogation, Acheampong admitted to the offense and indicated that the incident occurred approximately five years ago.
The police stated that the suspect is currently in custody, assisting with investigations, and will be put before court.
The police administration reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety of children and warned the public against acts that expose children to harm.
The case is expected to proceed through the legal system as investigations continue.
