A fire broke out at the boys’ dormitory of Kadjebi-Asato Senior High School (SHS) in Oti Region on Tuesday, December 2, 2025.
According to a release issued by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, firefighters responded to the incident at 10:07am and successfully contained the fire, preventing total loss of the dormitory.

The fire was successfully extinguished at 10:46am.
Preliminary investigations suggest the fire was caused by an electrical fault due to illegal wiring connections.
The fire completely destroyed one room and its contents on the first floor.

About 120 students were affected.
Roughly 70 students fainted from shock, panic, and smoke inhalation.
58 students lost all their belongings.

All affected students have been treated and discharged except for two who are still recovering.
The GNFS wishes the injured students a speedy recovery.

The GNFS cautions against illegal electrical connections and urges school authorities to ensure dormitory safety.
