Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has called for a coordinated advancement on child centered reforms including Care Reform Roadmap, prioritizing family-based care over digital social service.
Speaking at the retreat on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 organized by the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) in collaboration with United Nation Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Ghana, Mrs. Opoku-Agyemang noted that essentials sectors influences children daily lives, safety, health, and opportunities for a better future.
Mrs. Opoku Agyemang emphasized that the retreat will effectively aid children living in deprivation stressing that “child poverty remains a serious concern. All this means that if we fail our children today, we fail Ghana tomorrow.”
She reiterated government’s commitment in advancing child-centered reforms, including the “Care Reform Roadmap, which prioritizes family-based care over institutionalization, and the Digital Social Services initiative” to strengthen child protection.
She urged that coordinated promotion of community prevention initiatives, Ghana Against Child Abuse campaign, and Early Childhood Care programs will empower children, noting that Ghana’s future depends on investing in today’s children.
