The Christian Council of Ghana (CCG) has elected Rev. Enoch Nii Narh Thompson, as its new chairman at its 2026 Annual General Meeting, held Thursday, May 21, 2026.

Rev. Thompson, the Executive President of the Ghana Baptist Convention, took over from Rt. Rev. Dr. Lt. Col. B.D.K. Agbeko (Rtd.), who chaired the Council from May 2025 to May 2026.

Rev. Thompson had been serving as the Council’s Vice Chairman prior to his election.

The AGM took place at the Presbyterian Church of Ghana Head Office at Kuku Hill, Osu.

Rev. Thompson brought decades of ministry experience spanning Ghana and Canada.

He previously served as Vice President (Ministries) of the Ghana Baptist Convention from 2014 to 2022 before becoming Executive President.

He was elected to the Executive Committee of the Baptist World Alliance in 2023 during its gathering in Norway.

He spent 17 years at Messiah Baptist Church, rising from Administrative Assistant to Head Pastor, and also served at Hope for Life Christian Fellowship in Calgary, Alberta.

Rev. Thompson has trained ministers at Maranatha University College in Accra, Prairie Graduate School in Calgary, and Ghana Baptist University College, where he lectures as an adjunct.

His academic credentials include a BA in French and Spanish from the University of Ghana and Complutense de Madrid, a Diploma in Theology from Maranatha Bible College, a Master of Divinity from Prairie Graduate School, and an MPhil in the Study of Religions from the University of Ghana. He also completed leadership training at GIMPA in 2020.

The Christian Council of Ghana, working toward its centenary celebrations in 2029 and Ghana’s 70th independence anniversary, said it prays Rev. Thompson will provide “the needed leadership and commitment for a prosperous future.”
