President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has commended the Black Stars of Ghana following the team’s qualification to the 2022 Qatar FIFA World Cup.
This comes after the Ghana Black Stars shocked the Super Eagles of Nigeria on their home soil in Abuja to qualify to participate in the global tournament.
“Warm congratulations to the Senior National Football Team, the Black Stars, for their dogged display in Abuja, and qualifying for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. I am very proud of the team’s exploits. They have made the entire nation proud,” he tweeted.

President Akufo-Addo had earlier placed a call to the head coach, Otto Addo few minutes after the game, where he was heard saying the victory is the best possible birthday present he could have wished for.

Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia also in a tweet, hailed the Black Stars for the remarkable qualification and labelled it as a “gallant display.”

Similarly, Ghana’s Lirst Lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo lauded the team’s efforts to qualify the country to Qatar 2022.

Ghana returns to the FIFA World Cup to be played between November and December later this year after missing out on the 2018 edition in Russia.
Morocco, Tunisia, Cameroon and African champions, Senegal are the remaining countries that have secured qualification to represent the continent.
