President Nana Akufo-Addo has said his administration is working fervently to put the nation on the path to prosperity.
According to the president, until Covid-19 hit the shores of Ghana, the nation was doing well economically; unfortunately, the coronavirus pandemic, together with the tensions between Russia and Ukraine took a toll on the economy.
“Government is working hard to restore our nation back onto the path of progress and prosperity; a path on which our nation was charting before the onset of COVID-19 whose negative consequences have been further exacerbated by the effect of the Russian invasion of Ukraine,” President Akufo-Addo said.
However, he was confident that despite these difficulties “with creativity, enterprise, hard work, perseverance and unity, we the Ghanaians shall overcome.”
He made this known in his Easter message on Thursday, April 14, 2022, while addressing the nation.
The president also admonished Ghanaians to be inspired and guided by God’s promise of salvation.
President Akufo-Addo asked Ghanaians to continue to have hope that better days are coming soon for the country.
Touching on Covid-19, and lifting of restrictions, President Akufo-Addo also urged Ghanaians to be mindful of the safety protocols during and after the Easter festivities to forestall a hike in the number of cases.
Ghana currently has 34 active cases of the virus after 161,086 confirmed cases which have resulted in 1,445 deaths.
He appealed Ghanaians that “notwithstanding the lifting of restrictions and the good news about infections, to continue to live responsibly and safely, so we can all play our part in building mother Ghana.”
