As reported by German tabloid Bild, Bayern Munich have sacked its head coach Julian Nagelsmann.
Rumours were circulating on Thursday evening that talks were ongoing internally as to whether they should remove Nagelsmann from his post. Just before the March international break, Bayern lost 2-1 away at Bayer Leverkusen and therefore dropped to second position, a point behind Borussia Dortmund.
Bayern had a difficult start to the season but have been in first place for the majority of the campaign. The club are still in the Champions League and face Manchester City in the quarter-finals.
Despite this, Bayern bosses believe now is the time to relieve the 35-year-old of his duties. Nagelsmann took charge of Bayern in 2021 and delivered the club’s 10th consecutive Bundesliga title.
Thomas Tuchel is the favourite to succeed Nagelsmann. If the former Chelsea coach signs during the international break, his first game will be against Borussia Dortmund on April 1st.
