The Kaneshie District court has remanded a 38-year-old electrician and also a plumber, Kwame Krappah aka Awana, into police custody over the death of a pupil teacher.
Krappah is alleged to have strangled the deceased, Judith Kpeglo, 20, to death without provocation.
Narrating the facts of the case to the court, Detective Chief Inspector Magreate Boadi told the court that the deceased who was girlfriend of the suspect, both reside at Kpone Bawaleshie .
According to Chief Inspector Boadi, on July 11, 2023, the deceased, who was a pupil teacher at Dream Seed School at Kpone Bawaleshie, left home for work and did not return.
She said on July 17, 2023, the deceased mother, Joyce Agbo, reported missing of her daughter to the Police.
Intelligence led to the arrest of suspect Kwame Krappah.
Investigations revealed that, on July 11, at about 2:00pm, the deceased left the school to buy food and went to the suspect’s house to eat it.
The deceased requested GHC200 from the suspect to braid her hair which he gave to her.
After eating the food the deceased told the suspect that she was going back to the school and without any provocation the suspect attacked the deceased from behind with a blue nylon rope and strangled her to death.
On the same day around 10:00pm the suspect dug a grave on a nearby plot and
buried the deceased.
The suspect in his caution statement admitted the offence and led Police to the spot he buried the deceased.
A Court order was obtained and the body was exhumed and deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
On August 1, autopsy was performed on the body but the Pathologist is yet to give the cause of death.
The plea of the accused was not taken but the facts of the case were read to him.
The case has been adjourned to September 5, 2023.
