Kumasi Asante Kotoko on Sunday defeated Accra Hearts of Oak 3-2 in the Super Clash in the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League.
The game, played at the Baba Yara Stadium despite Hearts of Oak being the home team, saw the reds winning the bragging rights.
With both sides creating some decent chances in the early stages of the game, Hearts of Oak opened the scoring in the 37th minute through a beautiful header by Congolese midfielder, Linda Mtange.
Kotoko responded quickly, with Isaac Oppong equalising just before halftime.
The Porcupine Warriors took opportunity of their dominance in the second half through a Steven Mukwala goal after capitalising on a mistake by goalkeeper, Richmond Ayi and made it two.
Mukwala doubled his tally in the 65th minute, beating Ayi to a loose ball.
Hearts of Oak managed to pull one back late in the game through a Martin Karikari goal, but it was too late, ending the first leg of the Super Clash 3-2.
The win however sees Kumasi Asante Kotoko move within four points of league leaders Aduana Stars while Hearts of Oak trail Kotoko by six points.
