The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has appointed a 13-member transition team to meet with their counterparts from the President-elect, John Mahama.
The appointment is in accordance with Section 1 (1) of the Presidential (Transition) Act, 2012 (Act 845).
This was contained in a press release dated December 10, 2024, and signed by the Director of Communication at the presidency, Eugene Arhin.
According to the statement, the team will be officially inaugurated today following a meeting between the President and the President-elect, who will serve as Co-Chairpersons of the team.
The President has delegated Hon. Akosua Frema Osei-Opare to act as Co-Chairperson of the team in the absence of the President.
The Joint Transition Team is tasked with ensuring a seamless and efficient transfer of executive authority, as mandated by the Act, to maintain stability and continuity in governance.
“The President reaffirms his commitment to ensuring a smooth transition to strengthen the nation’s democratic credentials further,” the press release concluded.
