The Black Stars rediscovered their form after recent disappointments, making a massive turnaround in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad on home soil on Friday, March 21, 2025.

The senior national football team put up an impressive display at the Accra Sports Stadium, securing a 5-0 victory over their opponent.

They took complete control from the onset, showing hunger and determination, and finally took an early lead in the second minute through Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo.

Coach Otto Addo’s men waited over 34 minutes to register their second goal in the 36th minute, this time from Iñaki Williams, who headed home a superb cross from Kingsley Schindler.

Captain Jordan Ayew added his name to the scoresheet from the spot, making it 3-0 in the first half after Antoine Semenyo won a penalty.

Ghana entered the break with a commanding three-goal lead, making the tie a mere formality for the four-time World Cup finalists.

In the 56th and 68th minutes, Mohammed Salisu and Ernest Nuamah netted Ghana’s only goals in the second half.

Otto Addo introduced fresh legs in the last 30 minutes, but the Ghanaian side failed to add to their tally, ending the game with a 5-0 scoreline.

They will travel to Morocco to face Madagascar in three days in the matchday six fixtures of the qualifying face.

Ghana leads Group I with 12 points after five matches, leapfrogging Madagascar with 10, while Comoros, Mali, Central African Republic (CAR), and Chad follow in that order.
