A man suspected of murdering an eight-year-old boy at Assin Breku in the Central Region was allegedly lynched by an enraged mob after suffering brutal mutilation.
The suspect, identified as Agya Asuo, reportedly had his testicles cut off by the angry youth before being lynched.
Agya Asuo, believed to be in his early 30s, was accused of beheading the child and severing one of his hands; hence, the youth responded with swift and violent reprisal.
According to Angel New’s desk, before police could intervene, the irate youth had taken matters into their own hands as the accused met his untimely death.
Residents say the suspect had a history of mental instability and disturbing behavior. In 2021, he was arrested for allegedly exhuming human remains and hanging skulls in his room, an incident that remains vivid in the community’s memory.
Police have since taken over the case, restoring calm and assuring residents of a thorough investigation.
The bodies of both the victim and the suspect have been deposited at the mortuary for further examination.
