District Chief Executive (DCE) for Abura Asebu Kwamankese District, Daniel Mensah Weddy, has denied claims that the assembly used Gh¢8billion to renovate his official residence.
He mentioned that the assembly has all the necessary documents, including contracts and financial records, detailing the renovation process and how the funds were utilized.
“There’s no truth in what they are saying. All relevant documents, including who the contract was given to and payment records, are available at the assembly for verification,” he emphasized.
According to Mr. Mensah, the allegations are a deliberate plan to tarnish the image of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government for failing to care for the building and to create a false narrative about the management of the district’s resources.
“They wished and planned for the building’s destruction in NDC era, just to tarnish the party’s reputation,” he said.
Mr. Mensah added that most people are pleased with the renovation of the building, and it is only a few individuals from the opposition party who are spreading false information.
However, he noted that during the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration, the DCE’s residence was contracted out, but the project stalled due to alleged embezzlement of funds by officials.
