The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has rescheduled the dates of the TotalEnergies Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON 2026), following a stakeholders meeting.
The tournament initially scheduled for 17 March to 3 April in Morocco will now be played from 25 July to 16 August 2026.
CAF, in a statement issued on Thursday, March 5, said it arrived at the decision after a consultation with FIFA and other key stakeholders to ensure smooth execution of the competition amid unforeseen circumstances.
“After discussions between CAF and its partners, FIFA and other stakeholders, CAF decided to reschedule the dates of the TotalEnergies CAF WAFCON 2026, to 25 July – 16 August 2026.
“To ensure the success of this important women’s competition, in the light of certain unforeseen circumstances,” It announced.
The continent’s football body further expressed confidence that the ongoing preparations point to a very successful tournament.
