Black Stars coach Otto Addo has handed a late call-up to Hamburger SV forward Ransford Yeboah Königsdörffer for the team’s pre-World Cup friendlies against Austria and Germany in the coming days.
The 22-year-old attacker earned the call-up following the withdrawal of Iñaki Williams and Brandon Thomas-Asante, who both picked up knocks during their recent league matches.
Brandon Thomas-Asante featured for Coventry City and was on the scoresheet in their 3-0 victory over Swansea City, but was substituted in the 62nd minute after sustaining an injury.
Iñaki Williams, on the other hand, played the entire duration of Athletic Bilbao’s win over Real Betis, but subsequent scans revealed he sustained a knock during the match, preventing him from making the trip to Vienna.
Ransford Yeboah Königsdörffer has already arrived in Vienna and is scheduled to train with the squad on Tuesday afternoon. The 22-year-old has been instrumental for his club in the ongoing Bundesliga campaign, having scored four goals in 26 appearances.
Ghana will face Austria on Friday, March 27, at the Ernst Happel Stadium in Vienna before taking on Germany on Monday, March 30, in Stuttgart.
The two friendlies form part of the Black Stars’ preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in June.
