Reggae, and Afropop star, Livingston Etse Satekla, popularly known as Stonebwoy, has emphasized that artiste should focus on producing quality music rather than chasing trends.
Speaking during an interview on the morning show on Angel TV and Angel FM on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, Stonebwoy highlighted that investing in quality music ensures longevity and lasting appeal among listeners.
“In music, you cannot compromise quality for virality. It is important for me; I stand on quality, which is why I invest heavily in production. I make sure it’s clean, top-notch, and can stand the test of time,” he said.
While acknowledging that both quality and virality are desirable, the dancehall star stressed that the foundation of any successful music should be quality. He cited the work of veteran musician Kojo Antwi, noting that songs he produced decades ago still resonate with audiences because of their high standard.
Stonebwoy also cautioned against focusing solely on virality, warning that it can push artists to take unnecessary actions just to keep their songs trending.
“If you are solely focusing on virality, that is when you do just anyhow, anything, and it is not sustainable. You would have to do many other unnecessary things to continue with the virality,” he explained.
