The President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Simon Okraku, stated that the Black Stars no longer fear high-profile opposition as the team prepares for its friendly matches against Austria and Germany.
Ahead of the team’s 2026 World Cup preparation, Ghana will face the two European sides this month and later play Mexico and Wales.
Speaking ahead of the upcoming matches, Mr. Okraku underscored a shift in the national team’s mentality under head coach Otto Addo in its approach to high-profile fixtures.
According to him, in the past, fixtures against top teams like Germany would have instilled fear, but the current squad is built on confidence and belief.
“Few years ago, if you heard a fixture like Ghana vs Germany, you’d be afraid. But today, we are very confident. The intangible assets that have been put together by Otto Addo and his team will make Ghana proud,” he said.
The Black Stars will face Austria on Friday, March 27, before travelling to play Germany in Stuttgart on Monday, March 30.
Ghana has been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England, and Croatia for the 2026 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
