Management of Kinyanye D/A Basic School in the East Gonja municipality of the Savannah Region is lamenting over the lack of teaching staff in the institution.
According to them, as a result of inadequate teaching staff, they are compelled to combine two or more classes to enable teaching and learning to take effect.
A teacher of the school, Tahiru Mahamadu Mahi added that, the predicament which has lasted for years has impacted the children’s education negatively, a situation he described as worrying.
Teaching pupils of primary two, three and four as a combined class, he told journalists all the levels study the same texts and nothing differentiates them except the rows on which each of the classes is designated to sit.
A tour of the town however revealed that the East Gonja municipality lacks social amenities such as road networks, electric power supply and potable water which make life comfortable.
Tahiru disclosed further that with these amenities lacking, people who are supposed to be working within the municipality as educators decline to teach when they are deployed to the area.
They pleaded with the government to come to their aid by fixing the problem in the community so that whenever teachers are posted there they can come and improve effective teaching and learning.
