The head of Public Relations at the Ghana Education Service, Cassandra Twum Ampofo, says senior high school students who could not register in a two-day exercise organised by the Electoral Commission specifically for them would have another chance to get their names on the electoral roll.
βThe Electoral Commission has given assurance that additional days will be announced to ensure that all eligible applicants are registeredβ she said.
A two-day nationwide voter registration exercise, which took place on Friday, July 10 and Saturday, July 11, 2020 respectively, registered students eligible to vote on SHS school campuses.
Management of GES urged schools earmarked as registration centres to liaise with EC officials to register students at the allotted time.
The GES encouraged all schools, EC officials, representatives of political parties and observer groups to continue adhering to all COVID-19 health and safety protocols.
The Education Service (GES) also expressed appreciation to various stakeholders including Directors of Education, Heads of Schools, staff, students and officials of the Electoral Commission for a successful organization of voter registration exercise on school campuses.
Officials of political parties and observer groups were also appreciated for the role they played during the campus registration exercise.
