The New Patriotic Party’s candidate for Yapei-Kusawgu constituency in the Savannah Region, Abu Mahama Abudu has been reported dead, Angelonline.com.gh has learnt.
Mr. Abudu, popularly called Abu Kamara, is said to have died on the spot after his vehicle crashed at Datoyili, near the Northern Regional capital, Tamale, late Friday, October 16.
The cause of the fatal crash is not yet known.
The NPP Chairman for Savannah Region, Mohammed Issah confirmed to Angelonline.com.gh that two other occupants, Kotochi Majeed who was an aid to the candidate and one other, also died in the accident.
Abu Kamara’s untimely demise is the second to have the governing party in a week, after candidate and sitting MP for Mfantseman constituency in the Central Region, Ekow Quansah Hayford, was shot dead by gunmen on his way from a campaign activity.
The Yapei-Kusawgu seat is currently being held by the opposition National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) John Abdulai Jinapor.
