The Municipal Environmental Health Director at Assin Central Municipal Assembly, Mr. Emmanuel Agyare has warned preachers against the use of loud speakers in public places.
According to him, the constant use loud speakers produces excessive noise which can have a lasting effect on humans frequently exposed to it.
In an interview with Angel FM’s Kwame Owusu Asante Shadrack, Mr Agyare indicated that it could cause hearing loss, high blood pressure, ischaemic heart disease, sleep disturbance, injuries, and decreased academic performance, especially of children.
Mr. Agyare said this while speaking against excessive noise emitted by roadside preachers, drinking spot operators, traders who use microphones to draw the attention of passersby, churches, saw Mill operators and others.
Mr. Emmanuel Agyare disclosed that it is against the law to go against permissible ambient noise measure therefore the municipality has put in place measures to ensure environmental safety and good health.
He mentioned that his outfit has begun prosecuting some church organizations and individuals who go against the laid down measures.
He there advised them to desist from it.
