Two persons have been confirmed dead following a clash between irate youth and military personnel at Ejura in the Ashanti Region.
The two, a male and female were declared declared after being rushed to the Ejura Government Hospital when they collapsed during the clash.
Four others who sustained gunshot wounds are in critical condition and are receiving treatment at the same facility while three other women who are relatives of the deceased have also collapsed and receiving treatment.
The clash occured after the youth of Ejura hit the streets to protest the killing of a social media activist, Ibrahim Mohammed popularly known as Kaaka who has been an active member of the #Fixthecountry campaign.
The Military who were dispatched to the scene to ensure law and order fired live bullets in the crowd which hit six of the protesters and resulted in the instant killing of the two persons. They have been identified as Nasiru Yusif and Murtala Suraj .
Scores of angry youth are currently on the streets of Ejura to demand justice over the murder of Ibrahim Mohammed popularly known as Kaaka.
The situation escalated when the protesters blocked the main road and marched towards the police headquarters shouting that they will burn down the police station.
In the ensuing misunderstanding, the police fired several shots towards the crowd leading to the death of the two persons and injury to the four others.
Medical superintendent at the Ejura Government Hospital, Dr. Mensah Manyee indicated that the first person was brought in dead while the second person died few minutes after he was rushed to the hospital.
