Konongo Odumase SHS murder: Four discharged; prime suspect remanded

With the exception of the prime suspect, the Konongo Odumasi District Court in the Ashanti region has discharged four other juveniles in the alleged murder case of a first-year student of Konongo Odumasi Senior High school.

According to sources, the decision is to help the office of the Attorney General proceed with the process of transfering the case to the High Court.

Despite their discharge the four students will serve as witnesses in the murder case the prime suspect is awating trial for.

The court presided over by Her Worship, Joyce Bamfo, asked the Ghana Education Service to re-integrate the four juveniles into the school.

Headteacher of the Konongo-Odumase SHS, Benjamin Kwaku Baah, in his response to the request, hinted that since the safety of the students is necesaary there is the need to relocate them to another school.

Background to the arrest

The Police, on November 6, 2021 arrested the five students for allegedly stabbing colleague to death.

The 17-year-old deceased student, identified as Sam-una Larrham was a first-year gold track student.

The Police subsequently arraigned the five suspects before court after which they were remanded into custody.

The five students were charged with murder and abetment of crime.

Meanwhile, the Konongo Divisional Police Commander, Chief Supt. Shaibu Abubakar Sadiq Osei said a team has been set up to facilitate investigations into the matter.
