One-time Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Torgbui Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, has said he foresees “disaster” following the actions of the current leadership in managing football affairs in the country.

His comments came in wake of the newly constituted technical team to manage the Ghana Black Stars team. These include Chris Hughton (Technical Advisor), Otto Addo (Interim Head Coach), George Boateng and Mas-UD Didi Dramani (Assistant coaches).

There have been speculations in the media that the appointments of some of the members of the team were spearheaded by government officials.

However, according to Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe who served for the period from 2004 to 2005 as Head of the GFA, such meddling in the work of the football governing body is destructive to the sector.

“You can’t tell who is really in charge, government brings in a coach then later he turns into an advisor. Now this gentleman can advise Otto Addo and Otto Addo can accept his advice or refuse to take it…

“The way I see this going now, I am afraid there will be a disaster and very soon, we will see it happen,” he portended.

Decrying the alleged intrusion by the government officials in the affairs of the Football Association (FA) he said he would have resigned from the position if he were Kurt Edwin Simeon Okraku, the current GFA president, “especially when a committee has been put in place without the knowledge of the FA President.”

He added, “the government can keep supporting football, but when they want to dictate to you, the President of the FA must be bold enough and call their bluff”.

He noted that when such actions are taken, then the governing body will be on the track towards discipline and to govern themselves.
