He admitted that, scraping all accumulated bills that have become outstanding debts from 2014, is the only means customers will come to a common understanding to welcome ECG’s installation of prepaid meters in the area.

He also added that “let prepaid come so we quickly start paying our current bills when everything works out, manager we will meet here and the agenda will be tackling of outstanding bills.”

Mr. Narteh made the suggestions during a stakeholders meeting held at the Yilo Krobo Municipal Assembly at Somanya.

In response, the Director of ECG, Mr. Asante Darko reiterated that bills or power consumed by customers without any abnormalities or fault, cannot be cancelled.

According to him, prepaid metering is dynamic, so one cannot call for bills to be scrapped.

Mr. Asante used the opportunity to advise customers to visit nearby ECG District Offices at Somanya and Juapong, to resolve any challenges they face.

The Municipal Chief Executive of Yilo Krobo, Eric Tetteh, commended the efforts of the ECG in engaging stakeholders and customers to settle issues regarding the accumulated debts and the initiative to introduce the prepaid meters to the Krobo Districts.

He concluded by pledging his support for a smooth and peaceful installation of the prepaid meters.
