Kumasi Asante Kotoko has named Richard Boadu as their new captain ahead of the start of the 2022/23 football season.
This was after the management of the club stripped the captaincy of defender Abdul Ganiyu Ishmael.
Ismael Ganiyu who led the reigning Ghanaian champions as the captain last season is on the verge of ending his services with the club after writing to the club demanding contract termination.
The porcupine on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, announced five new captains to lead the club ahead of the new season of which Richard Boadu has been named the substantive captain and will be deputised by Yusif Mubarik and Danlad Ibrahim as the first and second captains respectively.
Right back, Christopher Nettey and Cameroonian goalkeeper Pouaty Dendoum will serve as the third and fourth deputies as well.

The champions who are currently in Sudan in preparation for the new season will be engaged in a series of friendly matches. They are expected to take on Sudanese giants Al Hilal this evening.
