The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has with immediate effect, suspended the ongoing 2022/23 Betpawa Ghana Premier League, following a court injunction.

The decision follows a Motion on Notice for Injunction filed on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at the Human Rights High Court by Ashantigold SC who served on the GFA’s legal team.

In that regards the GFA, upon receipt of the Motion, decided to put the league on hold until the determination of a Motion on Notice for Injunction by the court on October 14, 2022.

According to the GFA, it has subsequently communicated its decision to all sponsors, partners, and clubs.

“The Association wishes to urge all stakeholders – sponsors and partners and clubs who have invested in the league, players whose livelihood depends on the league, match officials, administrators, officials and supporters of the league and the clubs to remain calm.

“The Association will endeavour to seek redress for the prompt return of the Premier League and ensure that the calendar is not further disrupted in this world cup year,” a communique from the GFA reads.

This means the topflight League which was scheduled to enter match day four this weekend will not take place until after October 14 when the court finalises the ruling.
