A close source told Angelonline.com.gh, that the injured workers were working on one of the VIP stands at the Kovoc end of the park when the incident happened.
The source added that the collapsed roof unfortunately caved in on the workers moments after a windstorm.
As a result, the victims who were trapped under the roof were rushed to the Eastern Regional hospital where they were admitted.
They are however responding to treatment, the source briefed.
“We are hoping that nothing bad happens to them because people seeking for end means for their survival shouldn’t meet their sudden death or be paralyzed as a result of this.
“God is able and I pray those injured men are back strongly to continue their work. But some of us will blame this occurrence to the shoddy work the contractor is doing,” some residents of Koforidua-Betom along Jackson Park said.
Meanwhile, the contractor in charge of the project denied the media entry to the facility and did not comment on the development.
