The head pastor of Heaven Way Church, Evangelist Patricia Asiedua, also known as Nana Agradaa, has been remanded into police custody for another three days.
The remand comes following her second appearance in court after some church members accused her of defrauding them.
Nana Agradaa is expected to reappear in court on Monday, October 17, 2022.
The court refused to grant bail to the accused despite pleas from her lawyers.
According to Angel FM’s court correspondent, Ama Brako Ampofo, the prosecutor DSP Sylvester Asare told the court that the suspect was not collaborating with the police regarding ongoing investigations.
She further reported that the police have written management of Today TV, owned by the suspect, to release footages captured by their CCTV cameras as well as the TV videos regarding the money doubling claims.
“The management refused to respond to letters from the police as well as an invitation from the police”, Ama Brako Ampofo reported.
The Evangelist, who is facing seven counts of defrauding by false pretense and charlatanic advertisement on TV and newspaper, was arrested following allegations of a money doubling scam leveled against her.
Subsequently, an Accra Circuit Court remanded her into police custody for three days.
he Ghana Police Service in a statement shared via its social media handles on Sunday, October 9, 2022, announced the suspect’s arrest after scores of her church members claimed that she had scammed them after an all-night service.
“The Police have arrested Patricia Asiedua alias Nana Agradaa following allegations of a money doubling scam leveled against her by some members of the public. The suspect is currently assisting police investigation,” the statement said.
The police have since called on all persons who were affected by the supposed scam to report to the Accra Regional Police Command to help with the investigations.
“Anyone who is a victim of the alleged money doubling scam should report to the Accra Regional Police Command for further action to assist the investigation,” it added.
