Accra Hearts of Oak have been sent packing from the CAF Confederation Cup despite their victory over RS Bamako at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Their elimination was confirmed after recording a 1-0 win against their Malian counterpart in the preliminary stage of this season’s CAF Confederation Cup.
The results mean the Malians have booked a ticket to the final round following a 3-1 aggregate win.
Hearts of Oak needed to overture the 3-0 defeat they recorded in the first leg played in Mali last week but failed to do so.
They managed to record a 1-0 slim margin courtesy of a Caleb Amankwah header in the second half.
The Ghanaian FA Cup champions have on two consecutive times failed to progress to the next stage of the competition.
With both Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko eliminated from this year’s CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup, Ghana currently has no representative in Africa.
They will now turn their attention to the suspended 2022/23 betpawa Ghana Premier League which is on hold due to a court injunction.
