A High Court in Nkawkaw has placed an injunction on the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Constituency election of Afram Plains North in the Eastern Region.

The court presided over by her ladyship Cynthia Martinson restrained the constituency from conducting its election slated for Saturday, October 22, 2022, due to some differences among party executives.

The plaintiffs, Kudjo Gaikpa Ernest, Domevie Ebenezer and Eric Aziaklo were led by the constituency chairman of the party, Amos Mornyui.

Speaking to the media after the court ruling, lawyer of the complainants, Christian Kwasi Buame indicated there would no election in the constituency per the court order citing unlawful implementation of the registrar which did not follow the due process.

He added that the executives also oversaw the branch elections inappropriate.

The legal practitioner who declared his happiness over the ruling said he was much satisfied because there is another application before the court until the matters are finally settled.

Vice Chairman of the Afram Plains North Constituency who doubles as the lead plaintiff, Amos Mornyui, stressed that their actions follow the failure on the part of the executives to follow the party’s constitution during the organization of the branch elections.

According to him, every branch of the constituency is supposed to have a three-member election committee meanwhile it happened otherwise.

He defended that their actions are contrary to the view that they aimed to destroy the party because they took the decision in the best interest of the NDC in the area.
