Residents of Assin Bediadua in the Assin North District of the Central Region, are calling for the immediate use of an abandoned police station which has been left to crumble in a bush.
The ultra-modern facility which was completed in the last two years and was scheduled to be commissioned in the last two years, is now taken over by overgrown weeds, reptiles, and other creeping animals.
Some of the residents who spoke to Angel News on condition of anonymity say the place now serves as a weed joint for weed smokers while others use it for sexual escapades and other social vices.
Meanwhile, the Assemblymember for Bediadua Electoral Area, Hon Martin Addo says all efforts to get the attention of the Assin North District Assembly have been an exercise in futility.
He reiterated that the community is tired of continuous weeding of the surroundings whilst the place is not being put to use to ensure the safety and security of the people.
The police station when open, will serve a population of about 2,000 in Assin North and some parts of Twifo Atti-Morkwa.
