President John Dramani Mahama has called for an investigation into allegations of drug trafficking and money laundering at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA).
This comes after the Member of Parliament for Assin South, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, made the allegations regarding two suspicious flights that arrived at Kotoka International Airport (KIA), suspected to be involved in drug trafficking and money laundering.
According to him, the government will take all allegations seriously and ensure thorough and transparent investigations in the country.
“I have directed all relevant investigative agencies, including the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), the Police CID, the National Investigations Bureau (NIB), and the National Security Coordinator, to take necessary actions,” he assured in post on Facebook.
The President further explained that these agencies will collaborate with the Member of Parliament for Assin South to provide all necessary information to investigate the allegations.
Mr. Mahama added that this will help take all necessary actions to expose any drug dealing in the country.
Meanwhile, the NIB made a high-profile bust of drugs last week with a street value of $350 million.
They, however, stated that they will maintain zero tolerance for using Ghana as a final destination for drugs.
