The Western North Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the illegal possession and discharge of firearms during a funeral celebration.
According to a police statement, the Western North Police Intelligence Department, with support from personnel of the Formed Police Unit, successfully apprehended suspects Frank Afoko, aged 41, and Kojo Agyapong, aged 31, on April 2, 2025.
The arrests followed investigations into an incident on March 14 at Attakrom, near Bibiani, where individuals were captured in a video that went viral on various social media platforms.
The suspects, along with others who are still at large, were seen openly discharging firearms without lawful authority during the funeral event.
The suspects were interrogated by the Regional Investigation Team, led by the Crime Officer, and admitted to being the individuals featured in the video footage.
“Both suspects have since been detained to assist with further investigations. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend other individuals involved in the incident who remain at large,” the statement assured.
The statement also reiterated the police command’s commitment to ensuring safety and security in the region and urged the public to report any information that could assist in the arrest of the remaining suspects.
