Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Muhammad Mubarak, has assured Ghanaians that the government will not tolerate acts of vigilantism, particularly in light of recent incidents in Ablekuma North.
Addressing the press on government accountability at Jubilee House, the Minister revealed that he has communicated with the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, and has forwarded videos of the disturbances, instructing for swift action to bring the perpetrators to justice.
He emphasised that neither his party nor any other group will be permitted to engage in acts of violence. Under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama, he stated, no vigilante groups will be allowed to form.
Mr. Muntaka strongly asserted that the government will not condone any unlawful acts, regardless of whether they are committed by individuals within or outside his party.
He called upon the public to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies as investigations continue, assuring that maintaining peace and security in Ablekuma North and across the nation remains a top priority for the government.
Furthermore, he indicated that Ablekuma North will serve as a case study to review operational procedures during the upcoming Akwatia by-election, signalling a proactive approach to addressing security concerns.
